What does WOL Technical Services do?

WOL is a Dubai-based technical services company supporting oil & gas and industrial facilities. We deliver mechanical, piping, welding, electrical & instrumentation, installation, maintenance and site technical services — planned, executed and closed out by one team.

Where do you operate?

WOL is based in Dubai and supports clients across the United Arab Emirates. Availability for a specific site or emirate is confirmed at enquiry stage, together with any access, permit or accommodation requirements.

Which sectors do you serve?

Upstream and midstream oil & gas, refineries, petrochemical plants, power and utilities, industrial manufacturing and offshore assets. Each sector page describes the typical scopes we are mobilised for.

Can WOL combine several disciplines in one package?

Yes. Multi-discipline scopes — for example a shutdown package combining mechanical, piping, welding and E&I — are coordinated from a single point of contact so responsibility is never split between contractors.

Scoping & quotation

What we need from you, and what you get back.

4 questions

Expand any card to read the answer.

What information helps you respond quickly?

The facility and location, the discipline(s) involved, drawings or photographs where available, the expected working window and any site access or permit requirements. Even a rough description is enough to start a conversation.

Do you survey the site before quoting?

Wherever possible, yes. A joint walk-down lets us confirm equipment condition, access, isolation boundaries and lay-down space so the proposal reflects the actual scope rather than an assumption.

How is a proposal structured?

A clear scope boundary, the method and sequence, the crew and supervision proposed, hold points for inspection, the documentation we will hand over, and the commercial basis — lump sum, unit rate or manpower supply.

Can you provide manpower only?

Yes. Supervised trade crews — fitters, welders, electricians, instrument technicians and riggers — can be supplied to work under the client's own supervision and permit system.

03Topic

Mobilisation & working on site

Live plants, shutdowns and how crews are managed.

4 questions

Expand any card to read the answer.

Can you work in a live, operating plant?

Yes, subject to the client's permit-to-work and isolation procedures. Scopes are sequenced so that work proceeds safely alongside operations, with hot work, confined space and lifting controlled through the site's own system.

Do you support shutdowns and turnarounds?

Shutdown support is a core part of our work. Crews, supervision and tooling are planned against the shutdown schedule, with pre-shutdown fabrication completed in the workshop so the critical window is used for site work only.

How quickly can a crew be mobilised?

Depends on scope and site induction requirements. Small corrective scopes can often be mobilised within days; larger packages are planned weeks ahead. Response times for a specific enquiry are confirmed in writing.

Who supervises the work on site?

Every crew is led by a WOL supervisor responsible for the method statement, permits, toolbox talks and daily reporting. The client has one named contact for the duration of the work.

04Topic

Safety & quality

The controls that travel with every crew.

4 questions

Expand any card to read the answer.

What safety controls apply to every job?

Permit-to-work and isolation confirmation before any intervention, a task-specific risk assessment reviewed with the crew, competent supervision on site, and stop-work authority for every team member.

Are welding procedures and welders qualified?

Welding is carried out to written procedures with qualified welders. Procedure qualification, welder qualification and NDT arrangements are agreed for each scope in line with the applicable code and the client's specification.

Do you use calibrated tools and instruments?

Yes. Torque tools, alignment equipment, test instruments and calibrators are calibrated with traceable records that form part of the handover pack.

Which certifications does WOL hold?

Certifications, accreditations and client approvals are stated only where confirmed by WOL Technical Services. Details are provided on request as part of the pre-qualification process.

05Topic

Documentation & handover

How the work is proven afterwards.

3 questions

Expand any card to read the answer.

What documentation do you hand over?

Inspection and test records, torque and alignment sheets, weld maps and NDT reports where applicable, red-lined or as-built drawings, and a completion report with observations for future maintenance.

Do you provide as-built drawings?

Red-lined markups are produced for every modification. Formal as-built drawings can be prepared where the scope includes it.

Is there support after handover?

Yes. Observations recorded during the work are carried into the completion report, and planned or corrective maintenance can be arranged as a follow-on scope.

  • Can WOL support mechanical work during a live plant operation?

Yes, subject to the client's permit-to-work system and isolation procedures. Scopes are planned so that work can proceed safely alongside operations.

  • Do you supply spare parts?

Spares are typically supplied by the client or procured against client approval. WOL can advise on parts lists identified during inspection.

  • How is equipment handed back?

With a completion report covering the work performed, measurements taken and any observations for future maintenance.

Piping & Fabrication

SVC · 02

View service
  • Which materials do you fabricate?

Carbon steel and stainless steel piping are the most common. Other materials are considered on a project basis against the applicable specification.

  • Can spools be fabricated off-site?

Yes. Where the project allows, spools are fabricated in a workshop environment and delivered to site for erection.

  • Who performs NDT on welds?

NDT is performed by inspection parties approved by the client and specified in the project requirements.

Welding & Fabrication

SVC · 03

View service
  • Do you hold welding procedure qualifications?

Procedure and welder qualification records are provided against project requirements. Specific qualifications held are confirmed at enquiry stage. [To be confirmed]

  • Can you weld on site as well as in a workshop?

Yes. Site welding is carried out under the client's hot-work permit system with appropriate fire watch and fume control.

  • What about painting and coating after welding?

Surface preparation and coating can be coordinated as part of the fabrication scope where required.

Electrical & Instrumentation

SVC · 04

View service
  • Do you work in hazardous (Ex) areas?

Work in classified areas follows the client's specification and applicable requirements. Specific competencies are confirmed at enquiry stage. [To be confirmed]

  • Can you support commissioning?

Yes — loop checking and pre-commissioning support can be included so that systems are ready for the commissioning team.

  • Do you supply instruments and cable?

Materials are typically free-issued by the client or procured against approval as part of the scope.

Equipment Installation & Maintenance

SVC · 05

  • Can WOL act as the single contractor for a multi-discipline scope?

Yes. That is the purpose of this service — one team and one point of contact across the disciplines involved.

  • Do you provide engineering?

WOL executes to client-provided engineering. Engineering support is arranged on a project basis where required. [To be confirmed]

Industrial Automation

SVC · 09

View service
  • Can you automate existing equipment rather than replacing it?

Often, yes. Many retrofits keep the mechanical equipment and replace only the controls, drives and sensors. A survey confirms what can be retained.

  • Which controller platforms do you work with?

We work with the major industrial controller platforms and generally recommend matching what the client already maintains on site, so spares and skills are consistent. [To be confirmed]

  • Do you provide the electrical installation as well as the design?

Yes. Panel building, cabling, terminations and field device installation are carried out by our own electrical and instrumentation crews.

SCADA & Remote Monitoring

SVC · 10

View service
  • Can SCADA be added to a plant that already has PLCs?

Yes. Most SCADA projects connect to existing controllers. Where a controller cannot communicate, a gateway or a small controller upgrade usually resolves it.

  • Is remote access secure?

Remote access is designed with the client's IT team: segmented networks, authenticated users, encrypted connections and access logs. The client retains control of who is granted access.

  • Do you support the system after handover?

Support arrangements are agreed per project and can include remote monitoring by WOL engineers, scheduled health checks and on-site response.

PLC & DCS Engineering

SVC · 11

View service
  • Can you modify a system that another company installed?

Usually, yes — provided the programme is accessible and not locked. We review what exists first, take a backup and agree the scope of change before touching anything.

  • How do you manage a controller replacement on a running plant?

The new system is built and tested off-line, I/O is mapped and verified, and the cut-over is planned around the plant's outage window with a documented roll-back option.

  • Do you supply the control panels?

Yes. Panels are designed, built, inspected and tested before they reach site. [To be confirmed: in-house workshop or partner panel shop]

Automation System Integration

SVC · 12

View service
  • Can you integrate equipment from different manufacturers?

Yes. That is the normal case. Where two systems do not share a protocol, a gateway or a small controller bridges them. The interface is defined and tested regardless of the vendors involved.

  • Will integration work disrupt production?

Bench testing, staged cut-overs and roll-back plans keep disruption to a minimum. Where a live change is unavoidable, it is scheduled around the plant's own windows.

  • Do you work with our IT department?

Yes. Network design, security and any connection to business systems are agreed with the client's IT and OT teams from the start.
