01Sector overview

How WOL works in manufacturing & industrial.

Production facilities where throughput, consistency and machine availability are decided by the control system as much as the machinery.

Manufacturing runs on repetition. A line that produces the same result every cycle depends on machinery that is mechanically sound, electrically reliable and controlled by automation that operators understand. When any of those three slips, output, quality and safety follow.

WOL brings automation, control engineering and multi-discipline site services to manufacturers: automating manual or ageing lines, integrating new machinery into existing plant, giving management visibility through SCADA and keeping equipment available through planned maintenance. One team covers the control cabinet, the machine and the services around it.

02Typical scope

Work we are usually asked to carry out.

The scopes below are representative of WOL's work in manufacturing & industrial. Each one is planned, executed and documented to the client's site systems.

01

Production line automation and control upgrades

Surveyed, method-stated and executed under the site permit system with inspection hold points agreed up front.

02

SCADA, line monitoring and downtime visibility

Surveyed, method-stated and executed under the site permit system with inspection hold points agreed up front.

03

Integration of new OEM machinery into existing lines

Surveyed, method-stated and executed under the site permit system with inspection hold points agreed up front.

04

Electrical, mechanical and maintenance support for plant and utilities

Surveyed, method-stated and executed under the site permit system with inspection hold points agreed up front.

03Related services

The services most often combined for manufacturing & industrial clients — each delivered by the same supervised crews and documentation standard.

04How we work

The same method in every sector.

From first walk-down to close-out pack, the sequence does not change — only the site systems it runs under.

01

Understand

Site walk-down, drawing review and a shared understanding of scope, constraints and interfaces.

02

Plan

Method statements, resources, sequence and hold points agreed with the client before mobilisation.

03

Prepare

Materials, tooling, permits and inductions in place. Workshop fabrication started where applicable.

04

Execute

Controlled site execution under supervision, with daily reporting and progress against plan.

05

Inspect

Stage inspections, testing support and client witness points — recorded as the work progresses.

06

Support

Handover documentation, close-out and continued support through maintenance and follow-on scopes.

06FAQ

Working with WOL in manufacturing & industrial.

Straight answers on how work in this sector is scoped, mobilised and handed over.

Can automation work be done without stopping production?

Much of it can. Design, panel building and testing happen off-line, and site work is planned around existing shutdown windows, weekends or shift gaps. Where a stop is unavoidable, its length is agreed in advance.

We have machines from several suppliers. Can they be brought under one system?

Yes. Multi-vendor integration is common in manufacturing. Each machine keeps its own controls where sensible, and a supervisory layer ties them together for line control, monitoring and reporting.

Do you support the plant after the project?

Support arrangements are agreed per site and can include remote monitoring, scheduled control system health checks and maintenance contracts covering electrical and mechanical equipment.

What information do you need for an initial proposal?

A description of the line or equipment, any existing drawings or controller details, the outcome you want to achieve and the operating hours we would need to work around.
